Disposable IVC: Quarantine
Innovive Disposable Rodent Caging offers facilities protection against potential contamination by completely isolating quarantined animals from the main colony.
OPTIONS TO PROCESS DIRTY QUARANTINE CAGES:
Bringing cages directly to the MAIN COLONY WASHROOM
Often, quarantine facilities have to use the main colony washroom and cage processing facilities to maintain a clean supply of cages.
THE PROBLEM: co-mingling cages from the quarantine with those used for the main colony risks introducing pathogens to the main colony.
AUTOCLAVING cages with bedding before taking to the WASHROOM
This approach involves using an autoclave in the quarantined facility to kill pathogens prior to taking cages to the washroom. This requires scraping and dumping the autoclaved bedding prior to cagewash processing.
THE PROBLEM: High cost and effort. This approach reduces the risk of cross-contamination, is labor-intensive and shortens the life of the polycarbonate cages significantly.
