The Jackson Laboratory Opens a New Rodent Facility
Designed Specifically for Innovive Disposable Caging
The Jackson Laboratory is the world's leading distributor of mouse models of human diseases. The new three-story, 22,500-square-foot building, located in Laboratory's Bar Harbor campus, houses the institution's importation and isolation facilities, including a receiving center for mouse models from other research institutions. The new research facility was funded with $4.7 million from the Maine Technology Asset Fund. The Laboratory will reconfigure the old importation and isolation space thus freed up for R&D activities, with the goal of increasing the number of new products, techniques and services that enter the commercialization pipeline.
This entire project was completed without a supporting cage wash or sterilizing operation. At capacity the facility will house 5000 cages of mice in Innovive disposable caging that will reside in dual ventilated IVC racks.
Dr. Chuck Hewett, Vice President and C.O.O. of the Jackson Laboratory has been quoted as saying, "This building is our future. It's where we bring new mouse models in. We always worry that they might be contaminated with a disease or pathogens. We clean them up here before we take them to our safe facilities." Hewett also said the new research facility will help them do their job worldwide. "It's where we store cryo preserved mouse embryos and cryo preserved mouse sperm." Hewett said, "It really becomes the future. We distribute that sperm and embryos around the world. We also use them in this building to recreate mouse models that may have been used a decade or more ago. And now they need to be used again to help unravel the mysteries of disease. "
"Jackson Labs has been a great customer of ours for many years", said Dee Conger, CEO of Innovive Inc. "We could not be happier the institute saw the many benefits of our IVC caging system and selected us as their supplier on this important project. By eliminating the wash operation they have achieved a much greater animal density, saved significant capital costs and shortened the construction timeline. In addition, a complete separation of this importation facility from the core colony has been achieved, enhancing the overall biosecurity of the operation."

Innovive Inc Opens New Corporate World Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility in San Diego, CA.
It is with great pleasure that Innovive Inc announces the opening of our new 50,000 sq.ft corporate world headquarters and manufacturing facility on Towne Centre Drive in San Diego, CA.
Formerly the home of California Instruments, the building has been significantly upgraded including energy and water conservation following LEED guideline for greener operation.
This includes features such as a 30 x 50 ft glass wall that allows the manufacturing operation to maximize the use of natural light, as well as providing fantastic news of San Diego.
The new building will house Innovive manufacturing, customer service, sales, marketing, recycling support and engineering teams, in addition to a 5,000 sq ft training and meeting facilities and a fully-equipped gym.
In conjunction with the opening of new corporate offices, the new building houses our newly completed manufacturing operations facility. Heavy investment increased our tooling and prototyping capabilities and more than tripling the area dedicated to equipment assembly operations.
